Card Printing Materials And Finishing
The paper usually used by card printers is special. It is of thick gauge (260 gsm to 350 gsm) Art Card material, stiff, and has matt or shiny finish. Then there are the Laminated Cards, which also can be matt or glossy or velvet. Spot UV treatment may be used on Laminated Cards. Plastic Cards can be Translucent, Transparent or VIP. Linen, Ivory, Fine Textured or PVC Uncoated cards are also available. Pantone Business Cards can be Ivory, Brilliant White or Vellum. The finishing available is HotStamp, Die Cut, Round Corner, Embossed or Debossed.
Printing Technique
In general two types of Printing Technologies are used these days. Though Offset Printing is still widely used, Digital Printing has mostly taken over, with the use of powerful Inkjet Printers. Business Card Printing is therefore a highly technical and specialized business these days.
